Legendary Brows At Last: A trial, error and review of many eyebrow products

For two years, I have have been on the hunt for the perfect brow product… alas, I have finally found it.

About my Brows

Naturally, I have medium-brown-colored eyebrows. The hairs are relatively thick and long, but they grow in a narrow patch and create a bit of a hook at the end near my nose.

A product of my decade: This odd hair growth pattern is most likely the result of excessive plucking and waxing in the early 2000’s, please don’t judge.

Products I Tried

The first product: Laura Mercier Brow Dimension Fiber Infused Colour Gel. I liked it, I really did. It was the first brow product I tested that I felt was worth the splurge and I still think it’s a great beginner brow product. It held my brow hairs in place, the fibers added hair-like volume and the color was pretty good. However, I was looking for a bit more of a defined shape.

On to the next: NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Brunette. For the price, it wasn’t terrible. I used the whole tube. The wand was a bit large, and the product didn’t seem to offer much hold. It did add a lot of color and I was able to “draw” a bit. Overall, not bad but I won’t be repurchasing.

Now, a different kind: e.l.f. Cosmetics Eyebrow Kit. I didn’t love this. That’s all I’ll say.

A hand-me-down: A roommate tried this product but it wasn’t the right color. What the heck, I’ll give it a try. Estee Lauder Brow Now Brow Defining Pencil in Light Brunette. This is a good product but not what I was looking for. The pencil went on nice and creamy with little pressure. It stayed on well, it was highly pigmented. I wished the tip was finer but other than that, it was great, just not for me.

We’re getting closer: For me, Benefit Gimme Brow 3 is a great runner up. Lots of colors to pick from, little fibers add volume, a small brush is easy to control, there’s a decent amount of pigment and good hold. For some reason though, despite all these great qualities, I still wanted more. I wanted to be able to “draw” with my wand, and while the brand says you can, I just couldn’t.

Putting my best brow forward

Mid spring Charlotte Tilbury saunters into my life. Well, sort of. She arrives in the most spectacular burgundy box in the news room. A whole collection of lipsticks, powers and more, all ordered by my coworker. My curiosity gets the best of me. I carefully look through the box and finally find what I was hoping for, a brow product.

Dashing to the computer I start reading about the company and more specifically, Legendary Brows. The site claims a “precision brush that coats, shades and grooms every single hair, ‘growing’ them for flawless, defined brows in an instant.” This, my bare browed beauties, is not a lie. The mini mascara-like wand allows you to draw in a defined shape, with out it looking harsh. The “volumizing Magic Elasticizing Wax” adds oomph and hold while the Vitamin E nourishes. And at only $22.50 plus free shipping from the CT site, it’s a no brainer.

True Story:

The first time I wore Legendary Brows paired with Magic Away (more on this later) I had great reviews.

No joke, when my straight male friend walked into my apartment, without any knowledge of my new products, he stops dead in his tracks. “Wow, your eyes are just popping today. Seriously, your eyes look incredible.” I can’t make this up. Truly, he couldn’t stop commenting throughout the entire evening. Finally I caved and explained it wasn’t me, it was my makeup.

This, ladies, is how I know I’ve finally found the perfect product.

Note: I will be switching to a darker color on my next order

Mistakes to Magic

When I first ordered Legendary Brows I was sent the wrong product. I received Magic Away instead. Once I reached out to the company, they were fast to respond, allowed me to keep the incorrect product (which I am now also obsessed with) and expressed shipped the correct one. We are talking less than 24 hours later Legendary Brows was at my door step. These days great customer service is hard to find. Mistakes happen, but the way this company owned up to the mishap and went over and beyond to correct it has created a lasting customer.

I’ll be reviewing Magic Away next, stay tuned.

xx
